Connors, Rumpf & Gove Request Posting of Bill to Protect Privacy Rights of Accident Victims & Their Families

9th District legislators Senator Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne C. Gove have requested legislation (S-199) that would make it a crime for any first responder who takes one or more photographs or electronic images, or makes a video recording of an accident victim without prior written consent to be posted for committee consideration.

The delegation wrote to Senate Law and Public Safety Chairman Senator Donald Norcross to request the bill be posted and provided background material on the bill’s impetus.

10th District Legislators Introduce Bills to Help Restore the Barnegat Bay

Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Dave Wolfe and Greg McGuckin of the 10th Legislative District have introduced multiple pieces of legislation in an effort to restore the Barnegat Bay.

“Throughout the year the Barnegat Bay is enjoyed by local residents and tourists especially during the summer months when the bay sees an increase of boaters and bathers. The pollution in the bay is detrimental to our state’s economic, aesthetic and recreational value. We must preserve the bay to keep it clean for future generations to enjoy,” said Senator Holzapfel.

Beck Applauds Nomination of Harris and Kwon to NJ Supreme Court

Senator Jennifer Beck applauded Governor Chris Christie for his two most recent nominations to the New Jersey Supreme Court. Governor Christie nominated Phil Kwon and Bruce Harris as Associate Justices on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

“Through these nominations, the Governor has shown that he is looking to create a court that is diverse, well qualified and open minded,” said Beck (R-Monmouth). “Both of these gentlemen are well established members of the legal community who have accumulated resumes that seem to be worthy of these nominations. As a former member of the Judiciary Committee I know there will be a fair and thorough review to ensure that they are the right people for these important jobs.”

Beck Applauds Judiciary Committee Approval of Superior Court Nominee Viscomi

Confirmation of Red Bank Resident Proceeds to Full Senate

Senator Jennifer Beck (R-11) praised the New Jersey Senate Judiciary Committee for voting to confirm the nomination of Ana C. Viscomi to be a Judge of the Superior Court. Viscomi, a resident of Red Bank and constituent of Beck’s in the 11th legislative district, was nominated to the position by Governor Chris Christie.

“Ana has a proven record as an administrative law judge that made her nomination by the Governor to be a Judge of the Superior Court an obvious choice,” said Beck.

Bateman Calls for Same Sex Marriage to be Placed Before Voters in a Fair, Unbiased Manner

Senator Christopher “Kip” Bateman (R-Somerset/Hunterdon/Mercer/Middlesex), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today called for same sex marriage to be decided by the voters of New Jersey.

In addressing the Committee during its consideration of S-1, the “Marriage Equality and Religious Exemption Act”, Bateman said that he was willing to work with supporters and opponents alike to craft an unbiased and fair question on the issue in the form of either a Constitutional Amendment or statute enabled by referendum.
